In 2013, there were approximately 800 primary care facilities in Haiti, with only 43% of these facilities being classified as good for accessible care. Only 8% of people living in rural areas having access to one of these facilities.

Local children come to play soccer on a field in our backyard designated as a soccer field. We host movie nights (complete with popcorn!) for the neighborhood to enjoy. We encourage other community organizations to use our space for seminars and meetings. A permanent medical clinic could provide local and follow-up care and a base for future medical missions to Haiti. In addition, health education and preventive measures could be implemented. These measures would increase the well-being of Haitians, reduce sickness, reduce the need for emergency care, and save lives.

Medical care could be provided at a much lower cost, more quickly, and more effectively. The concept of a permanent medical facility became our new goal.
